The most prestigious and eagerly awaited event of the Centre is the annual Lester Pearson Lecture, which the Centre organizes every year in April, April 23rd being the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister of Canada Mr. Lester Pearson. This annual Lecture has been delivered every alternate year by an eminent Canadian and has attracted very important speakers from Canada.

  • The eighth Lester Pearson lecture delivered by Hon’ble Stephane Dion in 2002 was on “India, Canada and the Universality of Democracy”.
  • In 2003, the ninth Lester Pearson lecture was delivered by Prof. Deepak Nayyar on “Globalization and Development: A Historical Perspective”.
  • The tenth Lester Pearson lecture, in the year 2004 was delivered by Prof. M. V. Naidu on “Multiculturalism and Secessionism in Canada and India”.
  • Prof. Ravindra Dholakia delivered the eleventh Lester Pearson lecture on “Regional Imbalances under Federal Structure: A Comparatision of Canada and India” in the year 2005.
  • Prof. Francois Crepeau delivered the twelfth Lester Pearson lecture of the Centre in 2006.
  • Hon’ble Mr. Jairam Ramesh delivered the thirteenth Lester Pearson lecture on “Managing Diversities – The Canadian and Indian Ways” in 2007.
  • H. E. Dr. David Malone delivered the fourteenth Lester Pearson lecture in 2008 on “India Canada: A Study in Contrasts.”
  • Mr. Pavan K. Varma delivered the fifteenth Lester Pearson lecture on “Culture, Identity and Globalization” in 2009.
  • In the year 2010, the sixteenth Lester Pearson lecture on “The Current Challenges of Biological Control Worldwide” by Prof. Jacques Brodeur was read by Ms. Sudha Kshatriya in view of disruption to the international flight schedules caused by the volcanic eruption at Eyjafjalla Glacier in southern Iceland.
  • The seventeenth lecture in 2011 was delivered by Professor Seyed E. Hasnain, Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, IIT Delhi and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad on “Successful Interventions against the Deadliest Infectious Disease Tuberculosis continues to be a Grand Challenge.”
